Wedding Fashion

There is a whole lot of wedding happiness going on in my group of friends. My best friend is getting married in a few weeks and my other friend just got engaged over the weekend! Needless to say, we talk about weddings A LOT and I love it. One of my favourite wedding topics is fashion. The brides dress, bridesmaid dresses and attire for the guests.

You might have seen my post last week on wedding shoes and today I want to feature some wedding dresses for the guests. Depending on how formal the wedding, you can rarely go wrong with a fabulous cocktail dress.

I personally think this dress would be best suited in the fall or winter.

Decor, Decor, Decor

As some of you may know, I got married a little under two months ago.  I've always seen pictures and talked to other brides who have said they where brought to tears when they saw their venue all set up and perfect on their wedding day. I didn't quite understand that until I walked into The Venetian on December 10th!

We hired FOS Decor for the decor for our wedding. And when I say decor, I mean, they did everything! From the bouquets, to the center pieces, to the charger plates, they did it all.

How lovely is my bouquet! I wasn't picky when it came to the bouquets and as you can imagine I was very happy when they arrived at my house the morning of the wedding!

The Centerpieces! Where do I begin... I wanted a winter wonderland and winter wonderland I got. FOS went above and beyond with the centerpieces. I was speechless when I saw the hall!

Michael and I with our amazing, wonderful and fabulous creative director, Marc from FOS! Marc was an absolute dream to work with. He understood our vision and ran with it. Anyone would be lucky to work with Marc!

I don't have a ton of pictures to show you but take my word for it, FOS Decor is amazing! I would hire them again in a second!

Have a fabulous day!

Mini Champagne

I don't have a lot of time today so I'm going to make this short, sweet and delicious!

Imagine if you had your own mini bottle of champagne while getting ready for your best friends wedding.

This is nothing less than fabulous if you ask me!

Donuts... Who Would Have Thought!

As I was scanning Pinterest this week I noticed an abundance of donuts, yes, donuts. These donuts are being used in lieu of a traditional wedding cake which I think is fabulous.

I didn't have a wedding cake. I thought it was a lot of money, I'm not a dessert person and just found it unnecessary. And you know what, not one person (we had a 300 person wedding) said anything to me about the lack of the cake.

That said, I love this idea and think it would suit a lot of weddings, birthday parties, showers, etc.

How cute are these!

Bridal Party Thank You's!

With the wedding over a month behind me I can talk about weddings with ease and pleasure. Note, the last couple months of wedding planning was stressful. Michael told me on our honeymoon I was a different person then!!

Anyways, onto happier things! What are you giving your bridesmaids as a thank you? I stumbled upon this on Pinterest and thought it was fabulous.

Style Me Pretty
This is a great way to personalize each basket for every person in your bridal party.

I gave my bridesmaids jewels from Stella and Dot and a fake fur wrap from Jacob to keep them warm which was lovely.

So, what did you do for your bridesmaids?

T Minus 9 Days!

I cannot believe the engagement that would never end is finally coming to an end, in 9 days no less! I still have some last minute things to take care of and the candy station is one of them.

We have six different jars / holders for the candy and we're I'm trying to figure out what type of candy to put in them.

I have a couple narrowed down but need some help with the rest. Here are the ones I know for sure: candy canes, little and big; hershey's kisses in the silver wrapping and red smarties. What other three types of candy would you serve at a romantic, wintery wedding?

For some inspiration, check out some of these great candy stations I found on Pinterest.

I Need Your Input!

Tonight I'm going for my trail for my hair. The wedding is about six and a half weeks away and I'm just giddy with excitement.

I have a fabulous stylist doing my hair for my wedding but I'd love some input on what you think for up dos. I definitely want my hair all up because my dress has a lot of detail around my shoulders and chest.

Let me know what style is your favourite and why!

Note: I found all the pictures on Pinterest

I've seen a lot of brides this year with a similar variation of this look.

Big fan of her bangs in this picture.

Can't wait to hear what you have to say.

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Christie Antique Show

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. My weekend was over the top wonderful for so many reasons. Friday night I had a celebration dinner for a friend of mine who recently got engaged. Saturday I hit up the Christie Antique show during the day which was awesome (see below) and Saturday night my family had an Italian Jack & Jill for Michael and I which was beyond lovely.

Christie Antique Show:

I went looking for a big frame for a DIY project I'm tackling for the wedding and I found one. It needs a bit of loving but it's perfect for my project. I also found a few other jems that I'm so pumped about. I bought 2 handmade decorative throw pillows, drawer pulls and a key rack to hang on the wall at our front door.

The weather on Saturday was perfect, much better than in May when I went to the show. There were so many great pieces. Lots of trunks, mason jars, old bottles and so much more. I could have bought a lot more than I did!

Check out this neat dresser. I didn't buy it but thought it was interesting to say the least!

The frame for the DIY wedding project!

Isn't this settee so pretty. I love the white!

Lastly, check out these pictures from our Las Vegas Jack & Jill my family had for Michael and I!

The bar where the Nicole and Michael signature drinks where served. Also, notice the floral arrangments with the cards and poker chips. The poker chips were my Grandfather's!

The red carpet!

Have a wonderful day!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Wedding Cake

One of the last things I have to book for the wedding is a wedding cake. I'm not a fan of cake which is why I've been putting this off. If I had my way I wouldn't have one but apparently that's faux pas so I'm having one.

Side note, I said "I" or "I'm" a lot in that sentence, I must remember this is Michael's wedding too, oops!
Anyways back to wedding cakes. I've found a few pretty cakes that I'd like your opinion on.

Wedding Hair

Hi folks,

My goodness, I have been the biggest slacker this summer when it comes to blogging. With the wedding prep, event planning, my full time job and watching our house go up I have very little time for anything else.

That said I am going to attempt to break my bad habit and get back into the swing of things! First thing first, wedding hair. I have had a reoccuring dream since I got engaged that it's the day of my wedding and I'm late because I don't have a hair or makeup appointment. For those of you that know me you know this is a true nightmare in my world. Now I need your help deciding on an up-do for my wedding. My dress has a lot of detail up top so I'm thinking putting it all up or at least the majority up is best. Let me know which picture you like best.

I found all the pictures on Pinterest, where else!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

There is a good chance I may be one of the last people to hear about Pinterest. Pinterest lets you organize and share all the fabulous things you find online. I'm totally going to start using it for the wedding and house and I cannot wait. In the meantime, here are some neat wedding inspired things I've stumbled upon on Pinterest!

Recipe Friday...Apricot & Raspberry Frozen Mousse

I am so glad it's Friday! I have weekend planned starting with a trip to Clarity MedSpa tomorrow morning. I'll tell you about my treatment next week.

Now onto today's yummy recipe courtisy of Style at Home. I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup (150 grams) sugar
  • 1/3 cup (100 grams) apricot puree
  • 2 cups (450 ml) heavy cream, whipped to soft peaks
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Directions
1
Whip the heavy cream to soft peaks and keep it in the refrigerator until ready to use.

2 Puree the raspberries and the sugar and set them aside.

3 Place the eggs, egg yolks and sugar in the bowl of an electric stand mixer. Place the bowl over a water bath and whip the eggs and sugar mixture for about 5 minutes until they thicken. Transfer the bowl to the mixer and continue whipping in high speed until the eggs have cooled. It will be thick. Fold in the apricot puree, followed by the soft peak cream.

4 Transfer the cream to a glass or metal baking dish or small jars. Spoon in some of the raspberry puree and make swirls through the apricot cream with a spoon or wooden skewer.

5 Transfer to the freezer and serve frozen.

How yummy does that look?!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)
