DYI Centrepieces

As some of you may know I am not the DYI type, I wish I was, but I'm not. Patience and time are not in my favour, I know, lame excuse. Anyways...here's a neat DYI project I found on www.bride.ca and www.goodhousekeeping.com .

A Pleated Vase-Sleeve
Make a simple, seasonal floral bouquet really pop, by placing a plain glass vase into a pleated vase sleeve made of a coordinating floral cotton fabric. How?
  1. Buy some cotton fabric of your colour and pattern choice (obviously something that matches your wedding decor theme)
  2. Also buy some fusible backing (something glue-able, ideally precoated, from the craft store), for stiffness and to keep the cut fabric from fraying.
  3. Iron the fabric onto the backing and press in folds.
  4. Snip the ends, if you like to create those points at the top.
  5. Cut small slits on each pleat to allow for a ribbon to wrap around your creation.
  6. Make a bow with your ribbon to complete the look.
Choose a fabric and pattern that will compliment both the size and colour of the flower and your creation is sure to be a winner!
Add some fresh flowers and cheap vases from the dollar-store and .. ta-daaa.. instant happy spring centrepieces! We love tulips because they come in a variety of colours and are readily available this time of year but, obviously, you can use any flower that you like!

How cute, right?!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Outdoor Summer Weddings

I have a huge fascination with outdoor weddings. I think they're glamorous, lovely and fun, to say the least! I am getting married in a banquet hall in December, therefore I drool every time I see pictures of outdoor weddings. Being that this past Saturday was such a gorgeous day it had me thinking more and more about outdoor weddings. I thought I'd share a few outdoor wedding ideas with you!
Beautiful table decor featured on Wedluxe.
I'm not nearly crafty enough to do this but I think it's super cute and cool! Featured on http://www.styleandsensibility.com/

How lovely is this sweet table?! Featured on The Wedding Co

I don't know about you but I love the second picture so much! Did you have a backyard/outdoor wedding?

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Bridal Shower #2 of the 2011 Wedding Season

I may have mentioned before, Michael and I have 5 weddings to attend this season, including our own in December. On Saturday I was at the second bridal shower of the season... second of many! I thought I'd share some pictures of my favourite things from the shower.
The presents! Look how many Crate and Barrel boxes...my favourite!

Candy / Dessert Table. How cute is this? The candy and mini cupcakes were delicious!
The pretty flower arrangments

Last but not least, the delicious cocktail menu!

Are you planning a shower for someone and using some of these ideas too? What's your favourite part of this shower? I love the candy table and the cocktails!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

A Wedding & Mother's Day

Hi folks,

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend, I know I sure did. I thought today I would just recap my weekend, filled with a wedding and mother's day.

Saturday we had a wedding and it was great! Being that I am still a royal wedding fanatic I decided I'd wear a hat to the ceremony. If the British can do it then so can I! I wore the one on the right that I borrowed from my Grandmother.

Yesterday we had a big Mother's Day dinner at my house with our family. Desert was one of the highlights because I had won cupcakes from What's Up Whimsy! and Sweet Escapes by Jenn. Everyone loved them. Check out how cute they were!!

Happy Mother's Day!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Prince William & Ms. Kate!

The day has finally come!!  I thought today I'd highlight the wedding of Prince William's parents and the lovely couple themselves!

I hope you're all not too sleepy today. I think the tiredness is well worth it!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Cake or Cupcakes?

Have you decided what you're doing for desert? I am a big fan of cupcakes but worry that a sea of cupcakes will look overwhelming. I think it's safe to say Ms. Kate will have a fabulously large and grand cake at her wedding. Here are some pictures of my favourite wedding cakes and cupcakes.

This is The Silver Dragee Cake by Bobbette and Belle.

This is the Cherry Blossom Sky Scraper from Bobbette and Belle.

These are Monogram Mini Cakes from Bobbette and Belle too!

I hope these made your mouth water as much as mine!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Happy Royal Wedding Week!

Since the wedding of the decade is on Friday I've decided to dedicate all my posts to weddings this week! So far my favourite part of planning my wedding has been dress shopping and saying YES to my dress so I thought I'd start off today with wedding gowns.
With all the speculation around what Ms. Kate will wear I've decided to suggest a few gowns for her from my favourite designers.

The first dress is from my favourite designer and the designer of my wedding gown, Ines Di Santo. From the moment I laid eyes on her gowns I knew I wanted to wear one on my wedding and I'm fortunate enough to be doing it! So here's my Ines Di Santo pick for Ms. Kate.
Solange Gown from the Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

The second gown I've picked for Ms. Kate is from Monique Lhuillier, my second favourite designer. I realize this gown is probably not one she would wear but I love it!!
Rafaela Gown from the Spring 2011 Collection

Romona Keveza Collection
My third pick is a Romona Keveza gown.

What's your favourite gown of the three and who's your favourite bridal gown designer?

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole

What's your bridal shower taste?

Happy sunny Monday!

I hope everyone had as great a weekend as I did. Saturday I had a lovely day at Elmwood Spa thanks to my dear friend Kiira and her family. Back in February Kiira's sister was married and Lipstik Events helped out with the day of tasks. As a thank you I received a gift certificate to Elmwood. It was such a lovely mental health day, I strongly suggest taking mental health days! Saturday night Michael and two of our friends, Joe and Sarah, had a delicious dinner at a fabulous new restaurant in Stouffville, Fishbone Bistro. The food and service were equally amazing, I highly recommend this restaurant! Yesterday, I was at the first of many bridal showers this wedding season, which has given me the inspiration for today's post... What's Your Bridal Shower Taste?

I'm getting married on December 10th and have recently started thinking about my bridal showers (yes, I said showers). The shower I went to yesterday was in a banquet hall in Mississauga and there were about 100 ladies present.  It was a lovely shower which now has me thinking about my bridal showers and what I'm hoping for.  I have been told that two of my aunts are throwing me a shower as is Michael's mother!

My initial thoughts are these: Intimate, fun, girlie, bright, enjoyable!

I'd love to hear what you did for your bridal shower or what you'd like for your own shower and what games you like or don't like.

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)
