Party Planning Via Lonny Magazine

I was clicking through an old edition of Lonny Magazine and came across this great piece on party planning. I for one love hosting parties both big and small and enjoy adding a special touch to each event to make it unique.

Whether you're hosting a dinner party for 6 or a big soiree these tips will for sure help you along the way.

  • You want to make sure that you have all your accessories picked out before hand to decrease your stress level on the day of. The last thing you want is to be running around like a crazy person trying to find glasses or linens.
  • Whether you're preparing the food or you've hired someone, make sure the menu is finalize beforehand. Also make sure the grocery shopping is done a day or two before so you can spend the day inside and not worrying about making numerous trips to the grocery store.

  • Set your table. If you're going to be using formal menu cards make sure each guest has one on their place setting. This adds a personal and special feel to your table.
  • In the end the most important thing is that everyone has a fabulous time!

I know this is tough to read so make sure to click over to the Nov/Dec 2011 issue of Lonny Magazine for the full scoop on Party Planning.

Do you enjoy hosting parties in your home? What size are you most comfortable with?

Individual Appetizers

As I mentioned earlier this week, we're having a fairly large party on Saturday at our house for Michael's birthday. I've been on the hunt for food options that are different than what I normally serve. Here are a couple that are super cute and easy to enjoy.

I love this but you'd need to have an extra bowl of chips nearby because 1 chip clearly is not enough.

Tell me, would you enjoy something like this at a party?

Bachelorette 101

This past weekend was my Bachelorette party and may I just say it was the bachelorette to end all bachelorettes! My sister and Maid of Honour gave me a night I'll never forget!

The theme was Sex and the City, my favourite TV series and movies, and it was fabulous. Remember the scene from the 1st movie when Carrie and Miranda are having Valentine's Day dinner in the restaurant with all the balloons... Well my sister, with the help of her roomate and my best friend, re-created it. They blew up, knotted and put ribbons on over 200 ballons! And they have the war wounds to prove it!

She had games, a couple bartenders and some fabulous food! Some of the food items were items I've featured on the blog in the last few weeks. Remember the Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries and the Chocolate & Fruit post, well she had them and they were delicious!

Everything was perfect, she didn't miss a beat! If anyone needs any bachelorette party tips she's your gal!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Outdoor Summer Weddings

I have a huge fascination with outdoor weddings. I think they're glamorous, lovely and fun, to say the least! I am getting married in a banquet hall in December, therefore I drool every time I see pictures of outdoor weddings. Being that this past Saturday was such a gorgeous day it had me thinking more and more about outdoor weddings. I thought I'd share a few outdoor wedding ideas with you!
Beautiful table decor featured on Wedluxe.
I'm not nearly crafty enough to do this but I think it's super cute and cool! Featured on http://www.styleandsensibility.com/

How lovely is this sweet table?! Featured on The Wedding Co

I don't know about you but I love the second picture so much! Did you have a backyard/outdoor wedding?

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Dressing for the Weekend

Probably like most of you, I have a busy yet fabulous long weekend instore. Basically my weekend is filled with eating, drinking and being with friends, does it get much better than that?
I'm always looking for fun, seasonal and trendy outfits to wear when I'm out and I thought I'd highlight some great pieces for the summer months.
I love this BCBG dress

My favourite summer trend is Jumpers. This one is from Anthropologie.

Another Anthropologie find. Long dresses are another of my favourite pieces for the summer!

Blazers are perfect for work and play. This one is from Aritzia.

I'm in love with pants like this. They're so comfy yet trendy and stylish. These too are from Aritzia.

So can you see yourself wearing any of the above?

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Adding the finishing touch....to your outfit!

Is anyone else loving this weather right now, I sure am! I thought to put you in a summery mood today I'd highlight some of my favourite jewelry right now. I am so in love with Stella and Dot right now and I think you all should be too. Here are some of my favourite pieces.

All of these pieces are fabulous if you ask me. Pair them with your favourite party dress, jeans and a pair of flats or a jumper and you have a great outfit! You'll definitely be the show stopper at your next event!

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)
