Favourite Spring Fashion Trend

Happy Leap Year!

My favourite trend for spring is coloured jeans - I want a pair in more than one colour. They're fun, flirty and bright - just like spring should be!

They're perfect - you can dress them up or down with flats, heels, a casual tee or a flowy whimsy shirt. I'd love a pair of pink and green ones!

Spring Tablescape Ideas

I hope Tuesday is treating you well! Can you believe it's the second last day of February? Where is this year going?

Well being that it is almost SPRING I thought I'd highlight some lovely spring tablescape ideas. Let me know which is your favourite and why.

VIA Crush Cul De Sac

I adore the bright colours and the close pin to keep the menu card in place. You could also use the close pin for the seating card if you have arranged seating!

VIA Lokal 54

I love how crisp and minimal this one is.

VIA Traditional Home

I think lime green and pink go wonderfully together. A couple floral arrangements with cut up limes in the vase would look amazing on this table.

VIA Style Me Pretty

I fell in love with one look at these charger plates! I had similar ones at my wedding.

Upside Down Wine Glasses

I hope all my fellow Canadians had a fabulous long weekend! Michael and I had a great weekend relaxing, hosting a dinner party and spending time with our families.

I've been spending time thinking about upcoming events this year and when I came across this image / idea I fell in love.

VIA Luxe Finds

How clever is this? I would love to see this at an outdoor bridal shower, baby shower or ladies night.

Is this something you'd consider trying?

Who Doesn't Love A Good Wreath?

I for one have a big love obsession with gorgeous wreaths. Unfortunately, I have yet to find the perfect one to hang on my front door or anywhere in my home.

I thought this post would help inspire myself and any of you who are in the market for a fabulous wreath.

Liebster Blog Award!

On Monday the lovely Krista over at Nook Of Wellington awarded myself and four other great bloggers the Liebster Award.

The Liebster Award is given to bloggers who have under 200 followers to help generate traffic and followers.

In addition to receiving this awesome award, I also have to pay it forward to 5 fabulous bloggers and tell you 5 fun facts about myself.

Here's my pick for the next 5 Liebster recipients:
(Note: Not everyone has the number of followers displayed on their blog)

Five Things You May Not Know About Me:

1. I cannot go to bed without a glass of juice, preferrably Crystal Lite, on my night stand. I will wake up very unhappy if I don't have a glass of crystal lite waiting for me to enjoy when I open my eyes.

2. For a good 4-5 years I couldn't go to bed without putting on one of the discs from the TV show Friends and falling asleep to it. I would play it on my laptop and all would be right in the world.

3. I have an addiction to sweet tarts. You can often find me around 2 PM sneaking out for a coffee break which translates to I'm going to the gas station to buy a pack of sweet tarts to get me through the afternoon.

4. I only know about 1 line of lyrics from every song but pretend I know the rest and sing at the top of my lungs.

5. My voice is so loud, when I was in highschool people would say they could here me while I was in the cafeteria (on the first floor) and they were talking in the hallway on the second floor.

Have a great day :)

Jazz Up Your Lips Tonight!

For those of you that know me, you know that I adore red lipstick. I'm rarley caught outside of my house without lipstick on. I carry at least 3 tubes in my purse at all times - I just love it!

Last night Michael and I went out for dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day a day early because he works late tonight. I opted for a pink Mac lipstick last night and loved it.

Here are some gorgeous lipsticks that I think will brighten your evening!

Recipe Friday...Valentine's Strawberry Parfait

TGIF, right? For the month of January I was working 8-4 everyday and it was heavenly, but my company has become very busy, which is great, so I'm back to my usual 7-5. Needless to say, TGIF!

I came across this on Hostess with the Mostess and just had to share it with you.

Hostess with the Mostess didn't have a recipe for their strawberry parfait so I thought I'd post this one.

INGREDIENTS

4 cups sliced strawberries, divided
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fat-free ricotta cheese
1/2 cup (4 ounces) 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup amaretti cookie crumbs (about 8 cookies)
1/2 cup frozen reduced-calorie whipped topping, thawed
2 tablespoons slivered almonds, toasted

PREPARATION

Place 2 cups of strawberry slices and granulated sugar in a blender or food processor, and process until smooth. Set strawberry puree aside.
Combine ricotta and next 4 ingredients (ricotta through vanilla) in a medium bowl; stir well with a whisk. Spoon 2 tablespoons cookie crumbs into each of 4 parfait glasses.

Top each portion with 2 tablespoons strawberry puree, 1/4 cup strawberry slices, and 3 tablespoons ricotta mixture; repeat the layers.

Drizzle the remaining strawberry puree over each serving. Chill for 2 hours.

Top each parfait with 2 tablespoons whipped topping and 1 1/2 teaspoons almonds.

Sounds easy enough! Be sure to check in next week for a re-cap of the Re: Creative   Valentine's Workshop.

Have a fantastic weekend :)

A Vase Alternative

It's not secret that I am a huge lover of mason jars, I mean they're cute and practical, what's not to love!  That said, when I came across this it made me think, how could I not have thought of this sooner?

Amazing, right! I am so smitten with this idea. It's classy and lovely all in one and it's a great way to recycle an old whiskey bottle.

Valentine's Day Tablescape Ideas

Are you having a Valentine's Day party this week and you aren't sure how to make it festive and special? I've come across these and think they'd be perfect for a sweet, romantic and fun Valentine's party!

VIA Hostess With The Mostess

VIA Pizzazzerie

1. You could make a fruit rum punch or maybe try making a big batch of cosmopolitan. Just make sure you don't make it too strong - a super strong punch is never good!

2. If you're not a gourmet pastry chef like me, I'd suggest stopping off at your local bakery for some delicious treats. After being in Paris for 5 days over Christmas I strongly suggest picking up some macaroons!

3. Candy in my opinion makes everything better. Stop by your local bulk barn or favourite candy store and stock up.

4. If you're short on fabulous serving dishes like these try your local dollar store or Crate and Barrel.

Does this seem like something you could re-create? I think it's worth a shot if you ask me!

Drink Up!

Having a signature drink at a party is always a big deal to me because it adds a uniqueness to your event. Whether you name your favourite drink after the theme of your party or create a fun cocktail for the event it's something everyone will be talking about.

Here are some neat cocktail ideas that will give your event the kick it needs.

Recipe Friday... Refresh Your Water

I've been debating with myself all week in regards to today's post. I figured since the Superbowl is two days away I would do a post highlighting Superbowl snacks BUT since I don't care for football I axed that idea.

Instead I stumbled across this and couldn't resist.

VIA Industrious Justice

All you need to do is slice up some lemons and freeze them in the above baking pan. This is a perfect way to refresh pitchers of water when you have company over or if you're like me and carry around a Rubbermaid water bottle, you can stick a couple in your personal bottle.

Something you'd try?

Earring Holder & Wall Decor

I am a big suck for dangly, oversized earrings, how about you? If you ask me a girl can never have too many pairs of fabulous earrings!

With the new house, one of the rooms yet to be 'finished' is our bedroom and I think this would be a perfect addition and add some flare to our bare walls.

Once the warm weather hits, I plan on scouting out plenty of garage sales for the perfect frame. I'm sure I can find the lace from Michael's and with a few staples, voila!
