An Easy DIY

Admittedly I'm not the craftiest person around. I'd love to be, I really would but it's just isn't in my genes. I helped out one afternoon at a craft-er-noon for my best friends wedding in the summer and was amazed at all the goodness these ladies had thought of!

Side note, if you want to check out how that wedding turned out click here.

When I saw this DIY on Pinterest I new I had to share it so people less crafty like me could jump on this.

Right now we have a big pretty bowl that houses all of our to-do papers for our house but I'd love something more organized and unique. When I saw this I new it was something I'd be able to do and I'm pretty sure my mom or grandmothers have trays just like these that I could borrow steal.

We have a stainless steel fridge that I'm constantly wiping finger prints off so I don't want to clutter it with stuff only to have to take it down every few days to clean it. This is a much better alternative if you ask me.

What do you think? Something you'd try in your house?

I Need A Rug!

I recently have this urge to make sure my house looks like a picture from a House and Home magazine before this little baby arrives. I don't imagine the baby will judge us but in my head he or she will!

From painting to pot lights we have a lot to get done / I want done before April.

One of things on my list is a great rug for the family room. Our hardwood is a cedar ash colour, our sofa is brown leather, we have a red bookcase and well that's about it.

Here are a few rugs that I'm loving. Let me know what you think.

Which rug is your favourite?

Basically the only thing holding me back from buying one of these beauties is how pricey they are. I need to get over the price and dive in!

Not Too Spooky Decor

I am pretty much done with Halloween and ready for Christmas. I know, I'm rushing the seasons along but I'm just not a big Halloween person. I've never been big on dressing up and the thought of being asked to attend Halloween parties just stresses me out.

Being that Christmas is still 2 months away I figure I should oblige and participate in the current season.

I came across these great Halloween decor pieces for your home at Style At Home. Aside from some mini pumpkins and fall mums my house is pretty Halloween-less. These would be fabulous additions to help me get into the spirit of ghosts and goblins!

Minus the spider I love this. It's pretty yet still keeping with the Halloween theme!

I have a serious love affair with owls. I have one in my house but it's white and not scary at all.

Such a nice change from your typical orange pumpkin.

All of the pictures are from Style At Home.

So there you have it, some fun not too spooky Halloween decor.

Tell me, do you go all out with your Halloween decor? Is this your favourite time of year?

How To Tie A Scarf

I'm not a huge scarf person. I love them and have plenty but don't wear them enough. I'm not sure exactly how to wear them which is why I think I tend to stay away from them.

When I came across this I new I had to share it for all the other scarf wannabe's like me.

Tomatoe Recipes

YAY we made it to Friday! This week started off slow for me so I'm thankful it's the weekend aka time to relax.

We're having friends for dinner tomorrow night and I have no idea what I'm making. Over the last few months foods I used to like I can't stand anymore which has made cooking more difficult then you'd think.

I came across these tomatoe inspired recipes on Chatelaine and fell in love. Here are my top three favourites:

Heirloom Caprese Salad

Pesto Penne Rigate w/ Buffalo Mozzarella

Fried Green Tomatoe Salad

For the recipes please follow these links: 1 / 2 / 3

Which of these tomatoe recipes has you drooling? Caprese salads are my weakness. I must of ate 20 of them on our honeymoon in Italy. I just can't get enough!

Have a safe and great weekend!

Big Announcement

I've been keeping this a secret from the online world for a while now and I just keep can't it in anymore...

That's right people, I'm pregnant!

I'm 12 weeks along and finally starting to perk up a bit. I wouldn't say it was a horrible 3 months but it was definitely an interesting 3 months. The whole tired and nauseous thing was a lot tougher than I expected but it's all worth it. I wouldn't change a thing!

The husband and I are over the moon excited and cannot wait to meet Baby P in April.

So there you have it, the reason my blog posts have been few are far between over the last little while is because I just didn't have the energy. Hopefully I'll be back to regular posts from now on.

Thanksgiving Recap

I hope all you Canadians had a fabulous long weekend. I could totally use another day off but I guess I can't be greedy.

For our family dinner at my parents house yesterday, I was in charge of the table decor. I'm not super crafty in the DIY sense but love a nicely set table.

I headed out to Loblaw and bought 25 mini white pumpkins for the 25 people, a bunch of bouquets of flowers, corn and other decor items. Here are a few pictures of the finished product.

We're not usually a family who has assigned seating but I really wanted to use the white pumpkins as place card holders. They would have been cuter if I had nicer paper but what can ya do!

How was your Thanksgiving dinner? Full for a week?

What To Wear To Thanksgiving Dinner

It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I'm super excited. The husband and I have two big family dinners we're attending on Sunday and Monday which means I need two outfits for this weekend.

Fall weather and fashion is my favourite. It's not too cold that you need to bust out your winter coat and not too hot that you're sweating while enjoying your dinner. It's just right if you ask me. Boots with a fabulous dress is my go to look.

Here are a few looks I think would work great for this long weekend.

A perfect outfit for a casual dinner with the family. How great are the boots!

I love the skirt and necklace. Very fall and pretty.

White Pumpkin Love

I have a serious love affair with white pumpkins. The husband and I were driving the other day and saw some and I mentioned how I love them and want a couple for our front porch. He immediately replied, aren't they ugly? Um no dear, they aren't ugly! Men :)

Are you a fan of the white pumpkin or are you a traditional orange pumpkin person? If you're on the fence I thought I'd help you out and show you some fabulous white pumpkins.
