Weekend Re-Cap

This past weekend was jam packed full of goodness and events! Yesterday, Lipstik helped host a First Communion / Birthday Celebration. The event started at 2pm and wound down around 7pm. The food was plentiful, the decor stunning and it seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves. It also helps that the clients home is breathtakingly beautiful!

Lipstik Events was in charge of the appetizers, floral arrangements and staff for the event. With some planning and organizing I was up at 7:30am yesterday to begin prepping the food I was preparing.

I hired Shannon & Robin from Hoopla Event Design & Styling to create six floral arrangements. The client asked for bright, fresh and spring like arrangements and boy did Hoopla deliver! The arrangements were stunning; everyone loved them. Shannon & Robin were fabulous to work with. They understood the vision and went with it. I can't wait for the chance to work with them again.

Now onto the food. The main course was taken care of by the host and Lipstik was to handle the appetizers. Here's what I served.

Chili Flakes, Parsley, Ginger & Garlic Shrimp

Smoked Salmon, Onion, Caper, Fresh Cream Cheese

Tomatoe & Peach Bruschetta

The two appetizers not photographed are rosemary lamb chops served with home-made tzatiki and white pizza with bocconcini cheese, black olives, onions and spices.

All in all a great Sunday!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Cotton Candy Cones

I know it's Friday and this is not a recipe but I just had to share this.

VIA Pearls, Handcuffs & Happy Hour

Yes this would be fabulous at a kid's birthday party but if someone gave this to be around Valentine's day or at a shower I'd be thrilled!!

Cucumber, Guacamole & Shrimp

I had this as an appetizer in Paris, fell in love with it and had to make it for my girls night on Friday.

Step 1:
Wash & peel a large English cucumber.

Step 2:
Cut pieces into approx 2 inch pieces.

Step 3:
Core out the middle of the cucumber with a vegetable peeler.
Note - Don't go all the way through, only about half way.

 Step 4:
Fill the cucumber pieces with guacamole and top with a cooked piece of shrimp and voila, your delicious appetizer is ready!

Quick, simple and super easy.....oh, yummy too!

Recipe Friday....Valentine's Day Strawberry Hot Chocolate

This was my first full week back at work since before the wedding and let me just say, TGIF!!

I know Valentine's Day is still a month away but I thought this was too cute not to share.

VIA Two Peas And Their Pod
The full recipe that was featured here.

Strawberry Sweethearts Cocoa
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 pint strawberry ice cream
  • 4 cups water
  • Whipped cream
  • 1 cup Mini chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
In a medium-sized bowl, melt the chocolate chips and dip the top of four mugs into the chocolate. Set aside, allowing chocolate to harden.
In a medium pot, whisk together the butter, sugar, and ice cream over medium high heat until melted.  Whisk in the water, one cup at a time until your favorite texture/flavor is achieved.  Heat just until steaming.  Pour into chocolate-rimmed mugs.  Garnish with a dollop of whipping cream and a sprinkling of chocolate sprinkles.  Serve with your favorite bite-sized cookies for dipping.

Have a great weekend everyone. We're hosting on Saturday and I'm trying all new recipes that I'll share if all goes well.

With my wedding done and my best friends orchard wedding around the corner, my brain is still very much in wedding mode.

I love the spray painted jars above. As you know I have a serious love for mason jars and think this is a fabulous twist to one of my staples.

Something you'd consider trying?

Festive Cocktails

One of my favourite thing about hosting events is finding fun and delicous drink recipes for clients and myself.  I've stumbled across these festive drinks that I think would be perfect at any Holiday 2011 party.

I have a serious love for Candy Canes and think this cocktail would be a great delicious addition to your next cocktail party. For the receipe please click here.

How about this Cranberry Ginger Fizz. The cranberries and mint add a Christmas flare and the recipe sounds delicious too. For the recipe please click here.

What do you think, something you'll be tackling at your holiday party this year?

Recipe Friday... Cake Pops!

I've we've decided not to have a traditional wedding cake at our wedding so I am constantly looking for ways to serve cake type options to our guests. Cake pops are super trendy right now and very fashionable - as fashionable as dessert can be!

VIA Pinterest

I've never actually had a cake pop but they look delicious! I found a recipe for everyone that seems very simple and quick.

Check out the recipe here and let me know how it goes!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Michael has gone to Montreal for his bachelor party and my ladies are taking me out tomorrow night for my bachelorette! Should be a great weekend all around.

Enjoy the Party,

Nicole :)

Wine & Cheese Party Anyone?

I don't know about you but I'm a sucker for a wine and cheese party. I mean who doesn't love wine and cheese - together they're perfection!

I plan on hosting too many wine & cheese parties when we have our house. They're fun, great for mingling and catching up with people and you get to try cheese you may not have otherwise.

I also have a serious love for chalk boards and think the presentation in these two pictures is fabulous. It's creative, easy and your guests will love it.

Next time you're hosting a wine and chesse party consider calling Lipstik Events so you can enjoy your night as much as your guests!

Enjoy the Party,

Lipstik Events in Action!

Back in August Lipstik Events hosted a very large Celebration of Life Party for a very close friend of my family. The homeowner/host hired a videographer to capture the day and all its memorable moments. Here's the video, I hope you like it!

Be happy :)

We are hosting a big event tomorrow. It's the second time we've worked with this lovely client and we couldn't be more excited. That said, I didn't have time for a recipe post today but didn't want to leave you hanging so I found some fun posters from the Keep Calm website that I thought you'd enjoy.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Margaritaville Party!

This past Saturday Lipstik helped host a 60th birthday and the theme was Margaritaville! There was a margarita station, Jimmy Buffet Music, bright clothes and lots of fabulous food! Check out pictures from the party below.

The host hired a street meat vendor to cook dinner right out front of their home!

Don't you love the blue granite?!

Cool Off!

Isn't this weather AMAZING! Aside from the AC being broken in my car I am loving this weather. I don't know about the rest of you, but the when the weather is this glorious all I want to do is hang out outside. That said, here are some yummy outdoor ideas for this week and weekend.

Idea 1: To add some flare to your bbq this weekend why not dress up your bottles?! It's simple, quick and will make your water bottles stand out for sure.

Idea 2: Instead of having four people sit around the table holding down the table cloth why not try this neat and cute trick?

Both of these ideas came from Country Living.

Happy hump day :)
